San francisco International Airport Terminal -B is redevelopment and extension project

The design concept, Air Pavillion, is characterized by the building’s transparency and the ease of flow of travellers with intuitive wayfinding carefully crafted into the interior architecture. From curbside to airside, continuity of expression and experience is ubiquitous in the design. This project was designed to be a net zero energy building. Every step of design development was taken carefully to ensure that there is a minimum expenditure of energy without comromising on any function or any sort of luxury to the users.

Spatial programming of zones

Upon trying out different design combinations of zoning and spatial arrangements to find out the planning style that would satisfy all the design and functional parameters taken into consideration, I felt that almost every element on the design is backed up by a strong reasoning and logic.
One such example is the calculation we made for choosing the right material and dimensions for facade glazing panels using day light analysis to find the over lit and inadequately lit areas on the image below.
